EDITOR’S NOTE: This blog was originally published Aug. 27, 2018 and then underwent extensive updates and editing in the fall of 2020 to remain current and relevant.

One of the amazing benefits of staying at one of our resort hotels is leaving your travel worries behind and hopping on a water taxi, shuttle bus, or taking a short walk over to one of our three spectacular theme parks.

Water Taxi

Complimentary Water Taxi at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel

My favorite ride to start the day at Universal Orlando Resort is the water taxi. Water taxis are available exclusively at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel Orlando, Loews Royal Pacific Resort, and Loews Sapphire Falls Resort, with an average travel time of less than 10 minutes and beautiful views to enjoy along the way. The water taxi takes you straight from the hotel to Universal CityWalk. From there, you can choose to head to Universal’s Islands of Adventure or Universal Studios Florida. Either park you choose is equally awesome.

Shuttle Bus

Another option for transportation to our parks is the shuttle bus. The shuttle bus is offered at all of our hotels, runs consistently throughout the day, and will take you to either Volcano Bay for a day of thrills and chills or to CityWalk where you can easily walk to Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure.

  • Universal’s Endless Summer Resort: Shuttle bus arrives every 15 minutes starting one hour prior to park open ’til 2 a.m.
  • Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort: Shuttle bus arrives every 15 minutes starting one hour prior to park open ’til 2 a.m.
  • Universal’s Aventura Hotel: Shuttle bus arrives every 15 minutes starting one hour prior to park open ’til 2 a.m.
  • Portofino Bay Hotel: Shuttle bus arrives every 30 minutes starting one hour prior to park open ’til 2 a.m.
  • Hard Rock Hotel: Shuttle bus arrives every 30 minutes starting one hour prior to park open ’til 2 a.m.
  • Royal Pacific Resort: Shuttle bus arrives every 30 minutes starting one hour prior to park open ’til 2 a.m.
  • Sapphire Falls Resort: Shuttle bus arrives every 30 minutes starting one hour prior to park open ’til 2 a.m.

Walking Path

The last method of transportation is also the oldest mode of transportation… by foot! Most of our hotels offer a connecting walking path that takes you from one hotel to another or to CityWalk, Universal Studios Florida, or Islands of Adventure. One of the really cool benefits about staying at Cabana Bay Beach Resort, Aventura Hotel, and Sapphire Falls Resort is that these hotels offer a dedicated walking path straight to Volcano Bay. This beautiful path is just a short walk over to the thrills of the slides and the relaxation of Waturi Beach under the Krakatau volcano.

Each transportation option is only 10 minutes from step-one, getting-on-the-bus, or coming-aboard to our destination. Need some help deciding which mode of transportation is best for you? Here’s a handy guide with details on all three options.

So between Cabana Bay across the street and Aventura a stones throw away, how is Universal going to keep EVERYONE from using Sapphire Falls Boats?
They either need to figure out a way to stop it or have many many more boats running. But considering they encourage resort hopping they better get more boats.
This is a detriment to Royal Pacific as that darn stop light already slows down the journey.

Water taxi to/from Sapphire is over crowded, due to people staying at Cabana Bay and Aventura using it 🤨 putting me off staying again

If you arent staying at one of the hotels, can you still use the water taxis?? Do you have to show proof of stay i.e Hotel key etc??

Hi – On early park admission days does the shuttle run an hour before early admission opening time or only regular opening times (ie; early admission is 7am so shuttles start running at 6am)?

    • Reply Social Media Team November 2, 2020 at 4:22 pm

Hey Jen! Our resort shuttle services begins 1 hour before Early Park Admission!

Hi-We have a 2-year old and bringing her stroller, when we ride the free shuttle from dockside to the park, we don’t need a carseat and just carry her on our lap, right? Also, is there social distancing in the shuttle bus and mask required for 3 yrs and above? Thank you.

  • Reply Social Media Team November 17, 2020 at 7:14 pm

Hi Angie! You do not need a car seat when riding the bus from the hotel! There is social distancing markers on all of our buses that Team Members should assign to Guests as they board. And yes, face coverings are required for everyone three years of age and older. Please DM us if you have any more questions!
