You Need to Try These New Bites and Drinks at Halloween Horror Nights

Haunted houses and scare zones aren’t the only new things coming to Halloween Horror Nights 2018. This year, there will be new bites and drinks, including dishes and sips inspired by Netflix’s supernatural thriller, “Stranger Things”. And yes, I have tried them all – every waffle, cupcake and donut.

Let’s go straight for the good stuff – WAFFLES! There are five waffle dishes to choose from:

Strawberry Shortcake

Location: San Francisco Bakery, Beverly Hills Boulangerie

My personal fave—two waffles, fresh strawberries, strawberry sauce and whipped cream.

Bananas Foster

Location: San Francisco Bakery

Two waffles with banana cream cheese and hazelnut spread, topped with raisins, walnuts, whipped cream and a bananas foster sauce.

Triple Decker Extravaganza

Location: San Francisco Bakery, Beverly Hills Boulangerie

If you’re a fan of “Stranger Things,” you’ll recognize this inspired creation. Up your Instagram game with this triple-decker featuring three waffles filled with layers of whipped cream, chocolate, peanut butter morsels and jelly beans.

Fudge Dipped Waffle on a Stick

Location: Benny’s Burgers, New York Area

A great snack to enjoy as you’re trying to escape the clutches of monstrous fiends. You can top yours with peanuts or sprinkles.

Waffle Ice Cream Pocket Sundae

Location: Louie’s Gelato Window

It’s the ultimate ice cream sandwich with 2 chocolate chip waffles and stuffed with strawberry ice cream. Top it off with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, sprinkles, chopped peanuts, and of course, a cherry!

One of my favorite new eats this year is the Christmas Tree Light Cupcakes. Not only because they taste delicious, but also because they’ll make all your followers on Instagram green with envy. Can you guess which iconic scene from “Stranger Things” these were inspired by? You can find these at the San Francisco Bakery or Beverly Hills Boulangerie.

Finishing up the sweets lineup, 11 Mini Donuts (can you guess why 11?) covered in drizzles of red frosting. Choose from powdered sugar or cinnamon donuts and get ready to devour these tasty bites. You can find these at Benny’s Burgers.

If you’re craving something savory, fuel up for the fear by stopping at Benny’s Burgers, named after the diner in season one of “Stranger Things,” in the New York area of the park. Here you’ll find cheeseburgers, hamburgers and chicken sandwiches, all served with a side of tasty fries.

You can also find the return of the Fiery Onion Ring Burger at Mel’s Drive-In, the Chili Garlic Chicken Sandwich at Richter’s in San Francisco, and yes, Pizza Fries at KidZone Pizza Company or Louie’s Italian Restaurant. Twisted Taters are also making a comeback. You can find this tasty snack near KidZone Pizza Company.

You’re going to need a refreshing drink to wash down all that food. This year, you can choose from three new Halloween Horror Nights signature drinks, which come in our uniquely designed souvenir cup (which blinks!) with the twisty straw.

  • Totally L.I.T. (Long Island Iced Tea) – Vodka, tequila, gin, rum with triple sec, lime, sour and Coca-Cola
  • Wicked Rad Punch – Blueberry vodka, raspberry vodka, triple sec, lemonade and grenadine
  • Gnarly Twist – A perfect sweet and sour combo of both the Wicked Rad Punch and Totally L.I.T.

You can find these items at the event drink tents set up throughout the streets of Universal Studios Florida. You’ll also find a wide variety of beer and wine at the drink tents this year, and can visit the full bars like Chez Alcatraz and Finnegan’s for your mixed drinks.

There are also two new non-alcoholic frozen beverages that you’ll find in the New York area at the Gramercy Popcorn stand and the food and drink stand near the front entrance of Universal Studios.

First is the Syrup & Waffles, which was inspired by “Stranger Things.” It’s a delicious blend of flavors that even has tiny waffles on top.

And it wouldn’t be Halloween without some Candy Corn. The bottom layer is toasted marshmallow; the middle is your traditional candy corn flavor; and the top is whipped cream with sprinkles.

The great thing about these beverages is they’re available during the day at Universal Studios Florida. There are also going to be new Coke Freestyle flavors available, as well as a variety of mugs including the all-new Frequent Fear mug.

But wait, there’s more! Swing by Voodoo Doughnut in Universal CityWalk to grab the new Halloween Horror Nights Tombstone doughnut.

It’s a yeast-raised doughnut with raspberry Bavarian cream, cookie crumble dirt and green grass sprinkles. Annual Passholders can purchase the doughnut first with a valid ID from Sept. 10-13. AP discounts will apply.

How much would we have to beg for UO to make the waffle items a regular menu item year round? LOL. Would love to try those but can’t make it for HHN!

  2. Charlie Vincent

Any HHN bartenders on here have any comment on the potency of the HHN signature drinks? Typically, Long Island has quite the impact.

    But will Dufftoberfest be back?

  4. Donna

Will Universal in SoCal be doing the same?
