The Band Perry Headlines Next-To-Last Mardi Gras Weekend
Country and rock take the stage
There are only TWO weekends left of Universal’s Mardi Gras! Can you believe it? Only two more times this year to savor the tastes of New Orleans, catch beads from the 13 glittery and amazing parade floats, and hear an amazing performance on the Music Plaza Stage.
This weekend, I can’t wait to see The Band Perry take the stage.
Over the years, after meandering through phases of listening to everything from alternative and pop, to classical and folk, I always go back to being the mom in the car line jamming out to country, particularly country with a rock edge. So, while I found myself belting out The Band Perry’s hit “DONE” last week, my excitement continued to build.
The Band Perry is absolutely one of most dynamic acts in music today, achieving mainstream success and critical acclaim since delivering their platinum self-titled debut in 2010.
Introducing the sibling trio as a powerful new force on the country scene, The Band Perry offered up five hit singles, including the quintuple-platinum chart-topper “If I Die Young” and other platinum hits, including, my personal favorites “DONE” and “Better Dig Two.” For the band’s gold-certified second album Pioneer, front woman Kimberly Perry and her younger brothers Reid and Neil delved deeper into an edgy, rock-and-roll-inspired sound while staying true to their Southern roots.
So, when you see the 30-something mom, “jamming out” in the crowd this weekend, say hi and sing along with me!
Like I said, there are only two weekends left of Mardi Gras 2015 … so make sure to grab your tickets now.
