15 Can’t Miss Moments at Universal Orlando Resort

Trust us… You really don’t want to miss these.

I personally think you should see it all when you come to Universal Orlando Resort. But knowing there’s so much to do, these are 15 moments you definitely won’t want to miss when you come to the parks.

  1.  That moment when you realize you’re going to Hogwarts castle

Wands in Front of Hogwarts 2 (1)

When I first stepped into The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade, my heart skipped a beat. The land is absolutely beautiful. When I turned the corner and Hogwarts castle was revealed, I definitely shed a tear. It’s truly amazing.

  1. That moment when Optimus Prime says hello

Optimus Prime Pose

What’s cooler than seeing your favorite Transformer give you a warm welcome as you step up to pose for a photo. Next to TRANSFORMERS: The Ride-3D is a photo opportunity to meet Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron.

  1. That moment when you fly up in the air 185 feet

Dr. Doom Fear Fall

Doctor Doom’s Fearfall will have you screaming way more words than you even knew you had in your vocabulary. No fear of heights (or maybe a deathly fear of heights)? This attraction was built for you. The launch uses more thrust than a 747 jet.

  1. That moment when you plunge down to escape a large T. rex

Jurassic Park River Adventure takes you on a lovely scenic water cruise where you come across some nice herbivore dinosaurs. All of a sudden, you’re taken off course and end up face to face with a HUGE T.rex before plunging 85 feet! It’s so awesome.

  1. That moment when you finally meet Blue

Blue GIF

Speaking of dinosaurs, did you know you can now meet Blue? At Raptor Encounter you’ll get to learn some interesting raptor facts about this clever girl. And if you’re brave enough, you can even grab a quick photo with her. Fun fact, kids can even sleep in their very own gyrosphere bed in our new Jurassic World Kids’ Suites.

  1. That moment when you wake up and see a volcano through your window

Picture this… You walk into your room at Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort for the first time and open the blinds to discover one of the most breathtaking views on property. Our Volcano Side rooms give a bird’s eye view into Universal’s Volcano Bay. Let me tell you, these views are absolutely out of this world. Plus, being a hotel guest gives you access to Volcano Bay an hour before the park opens for the day with Early Park Admission.

  1. That moment when you come face to face with Kong

Are you brave enough to step foot into this mysterious island at Skull Island: Reign of Kong? Inside, you’ll encounter a few frightening creatures and prehistoric predators. But at the end of your journey, you’ll come face to face with Kong himself. This moment is definitely worth the trek.

  1. That moment when you see a fire dancer at the Wantilan Luau

LRPR Luau (1)

You can’t miss this classic Hawaiian luau at Loews Royal Pacific Resort. The Wantilan Luau will have you dancing along with hula dancers and will have your jaw dropping at these fire twirlers. Shows are every Saturday evening starting at 6pm.

  1. That moment when you step inside the tube at Kala & Tai Nui Serpentine Body Slides

These body slides, at Universal’s Volcano Bay are sure to make your jaw drop when the floor disappears, sending you plummeting down intertwining tubes through the Krakatau Volcano.

  1.  That moment when you climb 90 degrees straight up on Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit

In my opinion, the most intense part of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is the moment you’re 90 degrees looking straight up at the sky, your stomach turning from anticipation. At least you have some music playing to ease your nerves.

Fun Fact: this coaster is 17 stories high, making it one of the tallest roller coasters at Universal Orlando Resort.

  1.  That moment when you take a bite of a donut as big as your head

This. Donut. Is. Amazing. It’s also the size of your head! You can find this giant pink-iced sprinkled donut in Springfield at Lard Lad Donuts. Calories don’t count on vacation… right?

  1.  That moment when you eat a sushi roll that’s actually a burger…

Burgushi GIF

Two of my favorite meals are sushi and a good burger. At The Cowfish, my two favorite meals collide. You can literally eat what they call Burgushi. It’s either a burger made with sushi or sushi that’s actually a burger. It is all SO good.

  1.  That moment when you Hulk out

Hulk Launch

Shooting out of the tunnel and racing up to 67 miles per hour on The Incredible Hulk Coaster is INTENSE. And so much fun. This roller coaster has a total of seven inversions and will make you want to come back for more.

  1. That moment when you see the Ukrainian Ironbelly dragon breathe fire

Dragon Fire + In Awe Reaction (2) (1)

Sitting on top of Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, at the far end of Diagon Alley, is a massive fire-breathing dragon. One of my favorite moments is stepping foot into Diagon Alley and catching the dragon growl and blast fire out of its mouth.

Fun Fact: the fire out of the dragon’s mouth reaches temperatures of 3,560°F!

  1.  That moment when you take in the view from a rooftop bar

Bar 17 Volcano View

Our newest resort hotel, Universal’s Aventura Hotel, just opened—and you’ll definitely want to check out Bar 17 Bistro, the hotel’s rooftop bar. This is the first rooftop bar at Universal Orlando Resort, and these views are absolutely incredible.

I know this is probably not the right way to do this, but we have just returned to England after two glorious weeks in Florida. We visited universal studios and found it to be exceptional. The working staff there were the nicest, kindest and most helpful and couldn’t fault them in any way. However, the queues for the rides were horrendous. Some of them were almost two hours wait. We were with my daughter, son-in-law and 18 month old grandson, so we couldn’t go on rides together, one couple having to babysit. I know that’s not your problem but perhaps it would be a good idea to pre-book times for rides. I hear they do that in Euro Disney and works well. Also perhaps a reduced rate for people not going on rides. I just thought someone should know our feelings regarding this problem.

    Regards Lorraine Gordon

We will be there in December. Excited to see it all! Staying at the new Surfside which is opening soon. My grand daughter is so excited to see Harry Potter World. Been watching all the videos on YouTube. Can’t wait!

I would love to see a pedestrian bridge crossing from the newer buildings at Cabana to the Adventura. I’m certain that Adventura and Sapphire guests would love a better way to get to Volcano Bay, and the bridge that crosses from Cabana to Sapphire is a long walk for those of us staying in the southern buildings. Other than the prohibitive walking distance to get places, we loved our stay. The two bedroom suite was perfect for us and our two grown children. It gave us a quiet place to meet together in the living room area to discuss the day’s events, and private corners to escape from each other to unwind after a long day of ride lines and massive crowds. I bought cereal, milk, and juice each night to put into the refrigerator so that we could get up early and catch a quick breakfast before going to the parks. The beds were comfortable and we did have good views from each of the windows.

    • Hi Lois!

Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback. We are glad you enjoyed certain aspects of your visit, and we will be sure to document your concerns. We look forward to your next visit.

Not only the parks are a lot of fun but so is the staff they are great also and very accommodating.

I am here nearly every year. You guys are LITERALLY my favorite vacation!

  9. Michelle Vince-Johnston

We just returned home from Universal Studios and Universal Islands of Adventure today.
It was the most fun I’ve had in a long time. I didn’t think I would be riding any rides but
ended up pretty much on all of them with my 13 yr old.

And we had one little issue and when I mentioned it to one of the gift shop areas,
the employees told me to please go let Customer Service know.
I reluctantly went and left out of there very satisfied with how they made it right.

We are already planning on coming back June 2020.

    • Hello Michelle, thank you for this feedback, it’s great to see that you were able to enjoy our attractions and that our Guest Service Team was able to accommodate. We are very excited to welcome you back to our resort!

Walking through the arches before Studios, having that feeling “I’m back home.”

We were so excited to come again mainly for the new hagrid ride. Went today closed? RIP it rocket roller coaster, shut before we could get on. Harry potter ride stalled while we were riding and escape from gringots broke down while we were queuing to double the wait to 90 minutes. With the price for tickets and everyone planning their days it’s very disappointing. Managed 3 rides in 6 hours between the two parks, bit expensive to say the least. But got my 10000 step in one possitive.

    • Hi Chris,

We are very sorry for what you encountered during your visit. Thank you for providing us with feedback. We have sophisticated attractions, which feature state-of-the-art, one-of-a-kind technology; this occasionally results in ride downtimes, which cannot always be diagnosed and repaired immediately. In those rare instances, we devote all of our resources to restoring affected attractions to operational status as soon as safely possible. If you would like to provide further feedback, please give us a call at 407-224-4233 option 4 or send us an email at GuestServices@universalorlando.com.

We are Florida residents and annual pass holders to universal and all the WDW parks. My husband and I come up from NAPLES every month of not twice a month, this month I had family visiting from out of state with my 8year old nephew. We never purchased the drink cups before due to it just being the two of us, but we decided with all the kids we would get them. I have to say it was the worst experience ever, not only did our cups not work that we purchased at a burger place but when we asked an employee to help we got an attitude and was told to walk around and try different beverage stations. Now as you can imagine end of July it was HOT. And I’m not exaggerating when I tell you we spent an hour trying to refill our cups, finally we went back to where we purchased the cups only to be met with another issue, we did not have the receipt, luckily one of the ladies recognized us and gave the ok to replace our cups. All of this caused us to loose an hour and a half out of our day, kids were upset, the rain started and wasn’t stopping so that was the end of our day. With the cost of the tickets and having lost precious time dealing with drink cups there was a lot of disappointment. As an annual pass holder I’m very saddened by this.

    • Hi Sarah. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We’re truly sorry you and your family faced all of these inconveniences and sincerely apologize for the lack of assistance from our Team Members. We can assure you that we do not condone that behavior. We train our Team Members to assist our Guests in a professional and courteous manner. Your experienced has been officially documented and shared with the appropriate teams. Please do not hesitate to contact Guest Services at 407-224-4233, option 4 or via email at GuestServices@universalorlando.com to provide further feedback. We sincerely hope to see you again soon and make your next experience better.

As much as I love and enjoy Universal, I am finding that I’m getting very fed up with the new ride being shut down or delayed so much. Three times I’ve come to Universal and brought friends so enjoy the new Harry Potter ride only to find out it was not working. As a Primer member, I find this to be unacceptable not knowing this information before entering the park.

Also, please pay better attention to your Primer members. There should be a special line for them as well as Express passes.

Thank you for your attention. Hopefully you will start paying better attention to your Primer Members.

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey attraction is amazing. This ride is definitely rated a 10+
Very unique and exciting. Best attraction I’ve been on.

The Kevin Meet & Greet (Minions) was so fun Kevin was being silly and the photographer was being annoyed “Kevin! cmon!” I love the characters and the immersion, especially in Jurassic Park with Blue and the Discovery Center has photo ops with Dr. Woo! I highly recommend getting a photo pass!
