Get the Ultimate Theme Park Experience with a Universal Orlando VIP Tour
My family and I love visiting Universal Orlando Resort, and we’re always looking for new ways to explore and learn more about the parks. So, when we were invited to spend the day on a VIP Tour, we jumped at the chance.
As we eagerly waited to meet our guide and start our day of exploring both Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure, we were treated to a hot breakfast of eggs, bacon, and much more at Cafe La Bamba.
After brief introductions and a general run-down of the day, our guide Brian let us know that he would be facilitating our tour but not leading it—our schedule was completely driven by our interests and curiosity. We decided to start our day at Universal Studios and off we went!
What became clear in minutes is that Brian was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. Whenever we showed even a spark of interest in an attraction or show, he was quick to share a piece of trivia, point out an Easter egg we might not have noticed, or start planning a surprise.
For example: while in line for Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, my daughter Zoe talked about her love of Sharknado. And after we got off the ride, we were whisked behind the scenes to the DAVE (Digital Animation & Visual Effects) School for a special surprise. Zoe got to try her hand at flying the plane from Sharknado 3, and we learned all about the DAVE School.
Seriously, how cool would it be to go to school in a theme park?
Then it was my turn for a treat, as I shared that my favorite ride at Universal Studios is Revenge of the Mummy. Brian told me that after we rode, he had an extra special surprise in store. We exited the ride only to go back into the queue. But this time, we went down to the floor of the attraction where we got to watch it run from below the track.
We tend to spend a good amount of time practicing our swish and flick wand movements in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley, but on our way to Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, Brian showed us a few hidden spells that could be found in the various shop windows.
Finding unique photo opportunities at Universal Studios is always fun, but inside of the Men in Black Alien Attack Immigration Area we found our best yet.
For a break in our day, we headed back to Cafe La Bamba to experience a special VIP lunch that featured signature items from both theme parks. It was a great treat to not have to choose between our favorite places to eat!
After our morning in Universal Studios, we walked through the working sound stages on our way to Universal’s Islands of Adventure.
Our first attraction (and next special treat) was at The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man. My husband, Dave, LOVES this ride! Did you know that ride vehicle movements are created with the slightest of movements? Well we do, because we got to travel into the attraction’s maintenance bay and watch how the vehicle moves during the entire ride. It was (pardon the pun) amazing!
My daughter’s friend, Elizabeth, and I aren’t really “thrill seekers,” but Brian still knew how to keep us engaged! Elizabeth got to do a special guest countdown for my daughter and husband as they rode Doctor Doom’s Fearfall. While they were flying through the air, Brian showed us the Fantastic Four outlines below the attraction. Elizabeth was thrilled because while she didn’t ride, she still got to be a part of the experience.
Taking a break from the thrills, we ventured over to Jurassic Park to see how dinosaur eggs hatch and to learn the correct way to meet a Raptor.
With time running out, it was time to decide what our last treat of the day would be. The girls decided to head back to Universal Studios for Men in Black Alien Attack so they could say a proper good-bye to Bob and Bhnxaxx and to sign out of the Immigration Log.
After 8 hours, 24,000 steps, 13 attractions, 0 lines, and 6 behind-the-scenes surprises, we picked our car up at valet parking (included with the VIP Experience) knowing that we just had a day of creating memories we won’t ever forget.
