Universal Orlando Celebrates Opening of the New Universal Education Center

For 25 years, the Orange County Public Schools System and Universal Orlando have been partners on the Universal Education Center. The Universal Education Center (also known at the UEC) is an incredible school-to-work program right here on the grounds of Universal Orlando. The UEC is an alternative approach to the traditional high school setting – it allows students to go to school and work right at our theme parks. How cool is that?!

Recently, we opened a brand-new Universal Education Center facility to support the bright future for these students. The new, four classroom facility is equipped with state-of the-art technology including a computer lab and all new tools to improve the learning environment. Every day, UEC students’ hard work and dedication shines, from their school work to their jobs.

To celebrate, we invited school and community officials, Team Members and UEC families and friends to come out and tour the new building. Guests at the Universal Education Center opening celebration heard first-hand from current students, past graduates and teachers of the school. They were also able to tour the new facility and speak to the students and teachers directly.

Students shared the benefits of having individualized quality time with their teachers and how it has helped them grow. Teachers touched on the special bond between the students and staff and how their commitment to school and work shows in all that they do.

Guests also learned about the Mentorship Program, an incredible part of the UEC where students are paired with a Universal Orlando Team Member who meets with them every week to help guide them through everything from work to school and everything in between.

Watch out world, these students are the ones to watch! For more information or how to get involved in the Universal Education Center, please visit the Orange County Public Schools website.
