What Where Wednesdays: Rock Wall Climbing
Michelle and Rachel take on Rock Walls
No matter how many time’s you’ve visited Universal Orlando Resort, I can almost guarantee you haven’t seen all Universal has to offer.
Over the next few months, I’ll be poking around every corner to find you some of the best kept secrets! First off, my fellow team member Michelle and I headed out into Universal Studios and Universal’s Islands of Adventure to see what we could find, until we hit a wall. Literally.
Inside of Universal Studios, hidden in the streets of New York right next to The Revenge of the Mummy, you can face your fear of heights by climbing a three-story rock wall.
When we arrived in the alley way, the fear set in for me. I had never climbed a rock wall before, and in that moment, I realized I was afraid of heights! Michelle, on the other hand, was ready to take on the challenge of ringing the bell.
We stepped into our harnesses, put on our helmets and were ready to go.
We both started climbing with ease… until I looked down and said, “This is high enough!”
Michelle crawled up the wall like a spider monkey until she finally made it to the top and rang the bell. VICTORY!
We also found a rock wall inside Universal’s Islands of Adventure, just steps away from Jurassic Park River Adventure. Since this wall was also near the Camp Jurassic play area, there were a few more kids climbing. I told myself, “Hey, if these little kids can make it to the top, so can I.”
I began scaling the wall, fearlessly moving from rock to rock. Before I knew it, I was ringing the bell next to Michelle!
One of the scariest/most fun parts of the climb is being at the top and letting go of the wall. There is a moment right before you push off when you think to yourself, “I am about to jump off this three story wall, what am I thinking?” But after a few seconds of doubt, I pushed off and safely touched down to the ground.
Despite my fear, I can tell you it was a blast!
Keep checking in on the first Wednesday of every month for more “What” and “Where” hidden gems.
