What Where Wednesday: Hard Rock Cafe VIBE Tour
This week, I took a trip to Universal CityWalk to uncover another Universal Orlando hidden gem: the free VIBE tour at the Hard Rock Cafe. I’d heard that this tour gave you special access to memorabilia not on display in the dining areas. I had to check it out.
After a quick chat with the restaurant hostess, I was introduced to my host, Mikey. Right off the bat, Mikey told me this Hard Rock Cafe is the largest restaurant and has the most memorabilia of any location. I couldn’t wait to see what was in store.
My tour started in The Attic, a funky room filled with mismatched items from some music’s greatest. Instruments, tour props, and more covered almost every free surface of the room along with autographs galore.
After The Attic, Mikey showed me the different dining areas in the Hard Rock Cafe. Everywhere you look—literally from floor to ceiling—you’ll find cool memorabilia from rock legends, blues guitarists, folk singers, and everything in between. The tour reached its culmination in The John Lennon Room. Inspired by the late Beatles singer, this serene, white room is filled with personal items from throughout Lennon’s life.
Drawings, photographs, records and furniture—including a chair he used to sit on to write his songs—is a must-visit for any music fan. Ending on that high note, my VIBE tour of the Hard Rock Cafe was spectacular. For anyone who loves music history, history in general or is looking for a one-of-a-kind experience, I highly recommend the tour.
The tours are free, and they run every day between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m., except on days with concerts at the adjoining Hard Rock Live. To go on a tour, all you need to do is show up and ask a host to take a tour.
