City Year Volunteers Visit Universal Orlando For Career Prep Seminar
As a part of Comcast National Career Day, more than 70 City Year AmeriCorp members volunteering in schools across Central Florida visited Universal Orlando to participate in a career readiness program.
The Universal Human Resources team provided coaching to the 18 – 25-year-old volunteers, who dedicate a year of service to helping at-risk students in local schools. The program focused on developing crucial professional skills like resume preparation, interview techniques and leadership development.
This year, the Universal Orlando Foundation is sponsoring two City Year Orlando teams at Memorial Middle and Catalina Elementary Schools. Our partnership with City Year has given us the unique opportunity to support AmeriCorps volunteers in a variety of different ways, and the career readiness program is just one example.
We also work together to assist with the organization’s annual Red Jackets Rock event as well as Meet The Team days, where volunteers can enjoy our world class attractions while building relationships with their fellow members.
Since 1988, City Year has partnered with public schools throughout the country to provide targeted intervention for students at risk of dropping out. Click here to learn more about City Year and the impact they are making in Central Florida.
