Voodoo Doughnut is now officially open at Universal CityWalk with an amazing line-up of more than 50 types of delightfully weird and sinfully delicious doughnuts. Known for its bold, offbeat and eclectic vibe, the Portland-based shop is a perfect fit for the incredible, audacious tastes of Universal CityWalk.

I’m also personally excited as this is my first opening since starting at Universal CityWalk. And the fact that it’s centered on doughnuts, doughnuts and more doughnuts makes it even more memorable.

Voodoo Doughnut founders Kenneth “Cat Daddy” Pogson and Tres Shannon even came out. But they weren’t the only ones… For the very first time live in person, Cat Daddy and Tres introduced The Baron of Voodoo Doughnut – the iconic centerpiece to the Voodoo Doughnut logo, and together we celebrated this one-of-a-kind venue in true Voodoo Doughnut fashion.

If you look around the venue you’ll see quirky knick-knacks and pieces of art that tie back to the original Voodoo Doughnut shop in Portland. The idea that quickly became a phenomenon is represented throughout the shop.

Here are a few items around our venue that hold meaning to the story of Voodoo Doughnut:

Portland Love

Portland Zip Code - Voodoo Doughnut - Universal CityWalk

In front of the decorating counter you’ll see the numbers 97204 proudly displayed on the wall. This is actually the zip code for Portland, Oregon, the first location of Voodoo Doughnut.

Duct Tape Art

It has become a tradition in every Voodoo Doughnut shop that an artist from Portland creates a unique display made of only duct tape. In our location, you’ll see a large duct tape mural of a Voodoo queen made by Mona Superhero.

The Doughnut Throne

Exclusive to our location, guests can sit on a doughnut throne. Unfortunately it’s not real doughnuts. The throne is made up of some of the classic doughnuts you can get at Voodoo Doughnut, such as the Grape Ape, Bacon Maple Bar and Portland Cream. Also, you’ll notice the iconic Voodoo Doll doughnuts are holding up the throne.

The Spirit Channelers

Carrot Top - Voodoo Doughnut - Universal CityWalk

Also in every Voodoo Doughnut shop is a “spirit channeler,” represented by a velvet painting of a person that is from that specific location. And our shop’s spirit channeler is none other than central Florida native Carrot Top!

Plus, with more than 50 different types of doughnuts to try, there really is something for everyone. My personal favorite is yet to be determined, but I can tell you the savory yet sweet Bacon Maple Bar and the doughnut covered with grape dust and lavender sprinkles, Grape Ape, are delicious and truly unique.
