I admit it: I was mostly excited for the volcano. Because adding volcanoes to anything improves it by at least 26%.

But is just a volcano good enough for Universal Creative, the creative geniuses behind all our attractions?

Nope.

Oh, we got a volcano—200 towering feet of one. But they also gave us so much more.

First, they gave us the culture and story of the Waturi, a people in search of the perfect home, led by their hearts and their yearning for adventure.

They gave us the convenience of TapuTapu, where you don’t have to stand in long lines, can unlock hidden secrets while you play, and more.

They gave us unique experiences for both thrill seekers and those who want to just soak up the sun and relax.

And they brought it all together as Universal’s Volcano Bay, a water theme park unlike anything else in the world. Because what started with a story shaped every detail along the way.

Over the next few weeks, leading up to the grand opening on May 25, we’ll be sharing that story with you. And in a pretty fun way. Check back here or follow us on our social channels to follow the journey.

Come meet the Waturi and see what makes their lives unique—and how it will make your visit so special. Then, plan your own trip to experience for yourself the Waturi Way of life at Universal’s Volcano Bay.

I’m looking forward to the opening for a very unique reason! Sure, it looks like fun, but I have difficulty with stairs and I’ve yet to find a water slide that likes my cane. I am grateful that my walking problems are relatively minor, but water parks are out. What I’m hoping is that so many people will flock to this park that the three water rides at Islands will find themselves with reduced wait times. It would be wonderful to find that the next time I visit the parks I can get wet without a long wait! And for those of you who can tackle the water park, I hope you thoroughly enjoy yourselves!!! 🙂

    • Hi, Galadriel! Volcano Bay actually has two different ride towers that have elevators, which would give you easy access to four different multi-passenger tube rides. There are also two different rivers, two leisure pools and the wave pool that have easy access with no stairs. I hope that helps you and that you get to come visit Volcano Bay along with the dry parks. Take care.
